Danran (団らん) means gathering with those close to you. Join our monthly mini-presentation series as we explore Japan’s rich culture through engaging presentations, live demonstrations, and a bit of language learning—all from the comfort of your home.
Each session offers a unique theme, blending traditional and modern aspects of Japanese culture. Whether you’re curious about customs, art, or language, Danran Japan provides a fun and interactive way to connect with Japan’s vibrant heritage in a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere. (Fee ranges from $3 to $10, depending on guest instructor fees and materials costs.)
February Presentation: Navigating Japan’s Transportation

Japan’s transportation system offers a unique window into Japanese culture. In this presentation, we’ll explore the structure of Japan’s transportation system and how it reflects Japanese values. We’ll cover practical tips on buying tickets (including the essential IC cards) and following key train etiquette. For our activity, we’ll practice navigating the route map and guide you to some popular cherry blossom spots!
This presentation will be conducted via Zoom. Attendees must have a device with audio and video capabilities, as well as an internet connection. The Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth reserves the right to cancel the presentation if it does not meet the minimum attendance number.
