Film Screening “Coroner to the Stars”
Saturday, June 28 | 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Coroner to the Stars is a new documentary about the remarkable life of Dr. Thomas Noguchi, the pioneering Japanese American coroner who became an unlikely public figure at the center of some of the 20th century’s most controversial death investigations—from Marilyn Monroe and Robert F. Kennedy to Sharon Tate and Natalie Wood. But beyond the headlines, the film is a powerful exploration of identity, resilience, and the immigrant experience in post-war America. As a Japanese immigrant navigating the complexities of race, politics, and fame in Los Angeles, Dr. Noguchi broke barriers in both medicine and society, becoming the most famous forensic pathologist in the world—even as he faced fierce resistance from political adversaries and Hollywood elites. His fearless pursuit of truth helped bring forensic science into the public spotlight and left a lasting imprint on American culture.
Coroner to the Stars will be screening at the Oak Cliff Film Festival on Saturday, June 28th at 6:15p at the Bishop Arts Theatre Center.
Tickets are $14 and may be purchased online.
