Year Later

Tohoku what they would like
people in North Texas to
know one year after the
March 11 disaster.

JASDFW has donated an
additional US$85,500 to
Lions Club International
Foundation (LCIF) to aid
ongoing recovery efforts in
Sendai.
This is in addition to an
initial gift of US$100,000
from JASDFW to LCIF in June
2011.
The combined total of
US$185,500 will support
reconstruction of the Mori
no Sato nursing home in
Sendai following extensive
tsunami damage. This
donation represents generous
contributions from hundreds
of individuals and
organizations in the DFW
Metroplex.

On October 28, 2012,
Mayor Emiko Okuyama of
Sendai sent a letter to
Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings
expressing her gratitude for
the warm support of the
people of Dallas and the
disaster relief efforts of
the Japan-America Society of
Dallas/Fort Worth. The
letter was hand-delivered by
Consul General Jota Yamamoto
during his recent visit to
Dallas.

Texas featured JASDFW
with a two-page spread in
its 2011 Annual Report,
highlighting our use of

facilitate immediate
donations to the Sendai
Relief Fund. DonorBridge is

organizations in North Texas
with potential donors.

SENDAI Relief Fund
The
Japan America Society of
Dallas Fort Worth launched an emergency relief
fund back on March 14, only
three days after the
mega-earthquake hit Sendai.
The fund will be used to
aid recovery
efforts in Sendai, Japan,
one of the cities hardest
hit by the disaster. Money
raised through the JASDFW
fund will be sent to
organizations involved
directly with relief efforts
in Sendai. All contributions
are tax-deductible.

You can still contribute to
the Sendai Relief Fund.
