Committees

Awards Dinner Committee
Responsible for planning JASDFW's biggest annual event, including fundraising -- selling sponsor tables and tickets -- plus planning the menu, decorations, entertainment, and program. |

Program Committee
Responsible for planning and implementing a range of programs to meet the interests of the Society's corporate members as well as its individual/family members. |
|
|
Dallas-Sendai Committee
Responsible for planning and implementing exchange activities between Dallas and Sendai, which have been International Friendship Cities since 1997. |
|
|
Women's Outreach Committee
Organizes a variety of activities to bring Japanese and American women together for friendship and cultural exchange, such as craft exchanges, cooking lessons, field trips and "lunch bunches." |
|
|
Young Professionals Committee
Organizes monthly activities for the 20s and 30s set, ranging from happy hours to holiday celebrations, baseball games and speaker programs. |
SPECIAL SKILLS AND INTERESTS

Clerical
work: Help with ongoing office needs or special projects (membership directory, bulk mailings) |

Hospitality: Greet guests and assist with registration at programs |

Host Japanese visitors from Sendai in your home for one or more nights |

Take photographs at events for JASDFW records and publications |

Prize solicitation:
Procure unique prizes for golf tournament, auctions, door prizes, raffles, etc. |

Program support:
Help with setup and logistics, pickups and deliveries for events |

Public
outreach: Represent JASDFW at local cultural and trade events |

Sales:
Sell raffle tickets, ads for publications |
|
|
Telephoning: Make calls regarding events, membership renewals, etc. |

|
Work with children: Assist with Japan-in-a-Suitcase presentations
in schools

Writing:
Write press releases, newsletter articles, etc. |
